Frequently Asked Questions
-
I personally review every inquiry — you’ll hear back from me via email within 1–2 business days (and yes, you will hear back from me personally) to let you know whether I have availability and whether it sounds like we might be a good fit. From there, we'll schedule a free 20 minute consultation (either over the phone or on Zoom — your choice) so we can connect and ensure we’re a good fit to work together. There’s no pressure and no commitment needed after the call, and you can take your time thinking about if you’d like to schedule a session.
-
My availability changes. The best way to find out is to reach out directly — I’ll let you know what my availability is or what my waitlist time looks like at that time.
-
Yes — I offer both! Some clients prefer one or the other, but others like to create a hybrid style. In-person sessions are held in Matawan, NJ. Virtual sessions are available to anyone located in New Jersey.

I work with clients all over the world in my coaching business. You can visit www.thatmillennialtherapist.com to learn more and see if coaching is right for you.

I offer 45-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute sessions, as well as 3-hour intensives. Frequency is something we'll determine together at your first session based on your goals, your schedule, and what will be most supportive for you. Most clients begin with weekly sessions for at least the first three months.

You can stop therapy any time you’d like! I recommend that we have one final session together to celebrate your progress, but the ending is always completely up to you.

This is one of the most common things I hear. Many people have done therapy, gained real insight, felt relief from symptoms, and still feel stuck in the same patterns. In these cases, it’s a sign that a different approach is needed. My work goes beyond talking about patterns into actually shifting them at a nervous system and experiential level, which tends to create change in a way that insight alone doesn't.
-
No, and I want to name this clearly: you don't need to recount or relive past experiences to experience real relief and change. When we use somatic techniques like EFT tapping and energy psychology, it allows you to have relief from the pain of the memories without having to replay them again. Once there’s relief from the emotional charge, some clients want to be witnessed and share their experiences — but others never do, and still feel relief on the other side without sharing a word about what happened to them.
-
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a therapy approach based on the idea that we all have different "parts" of ourselves — inner voices, emotions, physical sensations, or patterns that developed to protect us at different points in our lives. Rather than trying to eliminate these parts, we get curious about them, understand what they're trying to do, and help them find healthier ways to support you. It's a gentle, non-pathologizing approach that tends to resonate deeply with self-aware, insight-oriented people.
-
EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a somatic practice that involves gently tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on a particular feeling or pattern. It works with the nervous system directly to help reduce emotional charge around difficult experiences or reactions. It can sound a little unusual at first — but most clients find it surprisingly effective once they try it.
-
I also use expressive arts and alternative modalities into our work — drawing on art, reiki, and sound healing to help you access and process what words alone sometimes can't reach. The use of these modalities alongside therapy is completely up to you, and we can talk about them in advance of trying them.

Accepting insurance requires sharing your diagnosis with your insurance company, which becomes part of your permanent health record. It also gives insurance companies significant say over your care — including how many sessions you can have and what treatment is considered appropriate. By working privately, I'm able to offer you completely confidential care that is guided entirely by your needs, not by what an insurance company will approve.
-
A superbill is a detailed receipt I provide after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Many clients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement — some quite significant. Before your first session, I recommend calling your insurance company and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits so you know what to expect. Full details are on my Rates page.

I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards. Payment is due at the time of service.
