what to expect from therapy together

If you’ve done therapy before but still feel stuck…

You’re not a stranger to self help or therapy – maybe you’ve been diagnosed with a mental health condition before, like anxiety, depression, OCD, or ADHD – and you’ve gone to therapy to help with the ways your symptoms were affecting your everyday life. Or maybe you’ve consumed a ton of self help books and content online, and you’re keenly self aware of patterns and what triggers you.

You’ve made a LOT of progress, and your life looks different than it used to. But you find yourself still stuck in the same patterns despite having insight into them. When you’re with your family or partner, you become dysregulated or more emotional than you want to be—especially compared to how you feel with friends. You know what’s happening, and you know you’re triggered – but you don’t know how to get out of it.

This is where many people start to feel stuck—and where a different approach to therapy can make a difference.

What therapy with me is like

Our sessions go beyond just talking about insight, how your week went, or relying on surface-level coping strategies. We focus on helping you actually shift patterns and show up differently in situations that trigger you. We slow things down so you can notice what’s happening in real time—your reactions, emotions, and the moments where you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure.

I’ll help you connect what you’re experiencing now to where it comes from, while also giving you tools, guidance, and support to respond differently. The goal is not just for your patterns to make sense, but for you to begin having new experiences—where things actually start to feel different.

I take a holistic and non-pathologizing approach to therapy. Rather than seeing your reactions as something to fix, we understand them as ways you learned to protect yourself in the best way you could at the time. Together, we’ll identify the parts of you that are working to keep you safe, and begin helping them find new, healthier ways to support you.

Your mind and body are deeply connected. That’s why you may find yourself reacting to your partner or family in ways that feel familiar—because your nervous system is responding based on what it learned earlier in life, even if the situation is different now. In our work together, we’ll involve your body in the healing process so you’re able to actually feel safe, not just understand it.

I integrate approaches like parts work (Internal Family Systems) and somatic-based techniques, including EFT tapping, energy psychology, expressive arts, and sound healing to support lasting change—so this work isn’t just something you think about, but something you begin to experience.

my approach to therapy

  • Collaborative: we’re working together, not me “fixing” you

  • Direct, but never critical: I’ll gently point out patterns as they’re happening in a non-judgemental, supportive way

  • Grounded and practical: not just insight, but helping you apply it in your real life

  • Emotionally attuned: there’s space for what you feel, not just what you think

  • Focused on depth: we go beyond coping strategies into the root of what’s driving your patterns
